Paper and Inks
The selection of a paper is a very personal and artistic decision. Only you can determine what type of paper best conveys your vision, there are no hard and fast rules for any given image.  If you are unsure what type of paper to use we can make a suitable time to meet to discuss your images and review samples of different papers. If you have a particular favorite paper in mind then no problems I can make a colour profile for your paper and optimise the printer settings to get the very best prints for you.

Canson Platine Fibre Rag
With an aesthetic and feel mimicking that of F-type smooth satin fiber paper from the darkroom this paper sets the standard for printing rich and vibrant colour images in the digital age.  It has a true pure white tone without using optical brighteners that are known to affect the longevity of digitally produced images. Considered a luster paper it has a smooth silky finish, 310 gsm weight.

lford Gold Mono Silk
Features a fiber base material and a coating that is optimized for monochrome printing to provide high impact black and whites with a crisp white to really extend the tonal range and give you maximum contrast to work with.  A pleasing classic fiber gloss surface finish, 270 gsm weight.

Breathing Color Lyve Canvas
An award winning inkjet canvas that delivers an excellent colour gamut with a high Dmax designed for images that demand excellent colour rendition and a high resolution. The Lyve Canvas does not use any optical brighteners and has an archival certification for 100+ years. Prints are finished with two coats of Breathing Color’s proprietary satin varnish, 450gms weight.

Museo Portfolio Rag
Museo’s premium archival matte paper designed for the ultimate museum or gallery exhibit quality prints. 100% cotton rag, very smooth and containing no optical brighteners giving a gorgeous matte rag surface with the best blacks in the business and exceptional colour gamut. This paper has a heavy ‘arty’ feel and is one of the cleanest, most crisp paper surfaces to present an image on.  This is a stunning paper, 300gsm weight.

Hahnemuhle German Etching
A beautiful art paper and one of the most popular textured papers in use today. A mold made paper where the fine grain texture adds class and substance to your print whilst not impairing detail in any way.  The weight is ideal for handling and framing and the natural white of the paper means no optical brighteners are used resulting in very high archival standards, 310 gsm weight

Epson UltraChrome K3 inks
In combination with Epson’s printer these resin coated pigment inks give very smooth tonal variations for photographers that are looking for the highest quality prints in colour and black and white. With the addition of Vivid Magenta the already wide colour gamut is expanded further to make difficult colours easier to reproduce.

Permanence
The giclee printing process is guaranteed by the manufacturers of the ink and the paper to make archival prints capable of lasting more than 100 years and are popular with contemporary artists, museums and collectors as a way of making exhibition prints from digital files.

Colour Management
To get the best colour accuracy and tonal graduation I make custom ICC color profiles for my printers with the specific papers and ink described above.  If you are comfortable in using soft proofing I can provide you these ICC profiles so  you can see the effect of the print process on your image using a program such as Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom.

I recently had Stuart print 24 images for me on Canson Barytra prestige paper, unique paper and unique images, challenging to get the best out of the paper and the files. I had no hesitation asking Stuart to print these images, I knew he was the right choice, he gave everyone of the images the care he would have if these were his own work. To say I was happy with the final result is an understatement, I was ecstatic with the final result and in the near future I will be asking him to print 50 prints for an upcoming exhibition, if you want quality custom printing Stuart is the right choice. –Scott Fowler EFIAP, FPSNZ, PPSA, SPSA

Stuart’s attention to detail and personal approach to printing my images was first class. When printing my PSNZ Associateship portfolio I was very grateful to have Stuart’s help; his knowledge and experience with different papers and the finish that could be achieved with them enabled me to fully realise the presentation style I was looking for in my images.
